Calling all Scrabble enthusiasts and spaghetti lovers! A Spaghetti Scrabble fundraiser will take place on Friday, March 19, from 6pm to 9pm to benefit the Rising TIDE program at the Marguerite Kiefer Education Center, Inc. Rising TIDE is a nonprofit drop-in program that serves more than 400 at-risk inner-city children and youth living in downtown Long Beach through after-school academic support, mentoring, cultural enrichment, arts, sports and recreational programming.
The Spaghetti Scrabble event will be conducted in the Fellowship Hall of Covenant Presbyterian Church, 607 E. Third St. All ages are welcome and childcare is available. Doors will open at 6pm for a spaghetti dinner, including spaghetti and meatballs, garlic bread, salad, beverage and dessert. Scrabble play begins at 7:45pm. The event also includes a silent auction and an opportunity drawing.
The suggested donation of $10 for the Spaghetti Scrabble is tax deductible. Teams of four and individuals are encouraged to register. Individuals will be placed on team. Junior Scrabble games will be available for children to use in the children’s room. Participants may register now or pay at the door.
