First Fridays returns to Bixby Knolls Aug. 3 as businesses along the Atlantic corridor come alive with art and music. This month’s event will feature more locations, artists and performers than any Bixby Knolls First Friday to date.
Join Jammin Music, located at 3972 Atlantic Avenue, for an evening of communal music-making. All ages are invited to come bang a drum with the Jammin Music Players. Instrument will be provided by Jammin Music.
Sign Language, located at 3930 Atlantic Avenue, will feature an exhibition titled “The Reagan Years,” which celebrates the best and the worst of the 1980s with an array of original artifacts, music and light refreshments. Guests are invited to come dressed for the occasion and the decade.
The Oasis Gallery at Chroma Glass Designs, 4242 Atlantic Avenue, will show the art of painters Craig Anderson and Nicole Cerasoli.
Photographer Piper Mackay will be displaying “Images of the World” at Tuttle Cameras, located at 4019 Atlantic Avenue.
The trendy neighborhood restaurant Four Olives Café, located at 4276 Atlantic Avenue, will feature the works of local artist Joe Devinny. The restaurant will also have live music by Scarlet and Dr. Bob Finney Jazz Combo.
The Long Beach Shakespeare Company proudly presents its third annual Summer of New Writers at the Richard Goad Theatre, located at 4250 Atlantic Avenue.
Artist Tom Vadakan explores themes of joy, sadness, love anger, hope and faith at Nino’s Italian Restaurant, located at 3853 Atlantic Avenue.
Mirage Café, located at 539 Bixby Road, invites poets and musicians to take part in its open mic night.
Author Skoot Larson will read an excerpt from his novel, “The No News is Bad News Blues” at Shore Books, located at 4270 Atlantic Avenue.
