Twelve of Long Beach’s best restaurants and four local bands will gather with a host of artisans on Saturday, May 1 to offer “Taste at the Point,” a fundraiser for Breast Cancer Angels. The event will take place at Grace First Presbyterian Church, 3955 Studebaker Rd. (at Los Coyotes Diagonal) from 11am to 3pm.
For a donation of $15, visitors will get samples of food from all the participating restaurants, plus a drink and dessert. The restaurants are Brulee, Creative Cakery, The Factory, Grounds, La Penita, The Bitter Chef, K Pasta, Johnny Reb’s, Roadhouse Grill, Buono’s, Delightful Crepes and Guadalupe’s.
There will be an artisans/craft fair on the grounds of the church, with more than 25 vendors selling their wares. Ascent, Primitive Painters, Stan DeWitt and Moonshine, and Sub will provide live music through the day.
Faye Dietiker founded Breast Cancer Angels (BCA) in 2000 with the goal of raising money for women in treatment to pay for essentials, such as food, medicine and housing. A survivor herself, Dietiker was alarmed at how many women going through treatment were forced, due to low income or means, to make untenable choices, such as deciding between paying for food for their children or medicine for themselves. Her goal was to create an organization that operated entirely on volunteers that would give away 100 percent of the money raised to in-need women in treatment and their families. A corporate sponsor pays their overhead, which enables them to assist more than 400 clients and their families in Southern California, while every year the need grows.
