On Tuesday, auctioneer and Kohn-Megibow Company president Steve Grove conducted the bidding for Arnold’s Family Restaurant’s items, ranging from kitchen utilities to the lamps that hung from the ceiling. Grove said there were about 440 lots in total. Meanwhile, Arnold’s owner Mike Johnson, whose restaurant had closed after he could not negotiate a new lease with his landlord, watched the artifacts of his business being sold for bargain prices but took the process in stride. “At our age, we just don’t want to store anything,” Johnson said. “We will remember the people but not the stuff.” The auction took place for one day and customers had the next two days to move purchased items out of the restaurant.
