A new survey by the the Long Beach Public Library (LBPL) seeks to learn more about what community members want from public services.
“Libraries are a vital resource to our neighborhoods, and community input is crucial to planning our operations,” Mayor Robert Garcia said in a statement. “I encourage residents to participate in our library survey. Your feedback is very important to us and helps us meet our goal of ensuring library services meet the needs of all Long Beach residents.”
The survey collects the community’s opinion on topics such as library hours, library news and adaptive or assistive technology. The information will be analyzed to find which services are a top priority for library patrons and allow patrons to make suggestions. A community survey was first suggested at a Long Beach City Council meeting during a discussion about library hours.
“The Long Beach Public Library was established 125 years ago and has a long history of adapting to meet our community’s needs,” said Long Beach Public Library Director Glenda Williams. “We want to hear from all library patrons, even those who are not currently using our libraries, to help us plan for the future to ensure that everyone feels welcome and invested in visiting their neighborhood library.”
Physical copies of the surveys are available at the following LBPL To-Go locations on Tuesdays and Thursdays, from noon to 7 p.m.; Wednesdays, noon to 6 p.m.; and Fridays and Saturdays, 10 a.m. to 5 p.m.:
