Rancho Summer Concert Series
The final concert of the Rancho Los Cerritos Summer Concert Series will take place tonight from 6:30 to 7:30 p.m. at the Rancho Los Cerritos Historic Site, located at 4600 Virginia Road in Long Beach. The concert will feature dynamic South American folklore compositions and the innovative, refreshing beats of the group Nueva. Embroiderers’ Guild Meeting
The Long Beach Chapter of the Embroiderers’ Guild of America, Inc. will meet Friday, Aug. 24. Bead designer Ann Woodman will be teaching members to do the Raindrops Beaded Bracelet. Guests are welcome and are requested to pay a $2 donation. For more information, contact Vicki at (562) 421-6975.

Elks Breakfast
The Elks of Bellflower/Long Beach invites the public to join them for breakfast on Sunday Aug. 26 at Elks Lodge #888, located at 16426 Bellflower Boulevard in Bellflower from 8 a.m. to noon. The menu includes Belgian waffles, eggs any way you like them, bacon, sausage, biscuits with gravy, orange juice and coffee. The cost is $5 per person.

Community sports camps

Films Under the Stars
The Historical Society of Long Beach, along with the Museum of Latin American Art, is hosting Films Under the Stars Friday, Aug. 31 at 8 p.m. outside of the MOLAA, located at 628 Alamitos Avenue in Long Beach. The films will star actor Charlie Chaplin and will be accompanied by live piano music. The price is $10 for MOLAA members and $15 for non-members and 1920s-style dress is encouraged. Youth Volleyball League
Spaces are filling quickly for the United States Youth Volleyball League, an instructional volleyball league that operates in a co-ed format for boys and girls ages 7 to 14. Registration ends Sept. 1 and practices will start Sept. 12 from 5:30 p.m. to 6:30 p.m. at Whaley Park, located at 5600 East Los Santos Drive in Long Beach. Rancho Retreat

Rancho Los Cerritos is hosting its Rancho Retreat Friday, Sept. 7 from 1 to 3 p.m. at the Rancho Los Cerritos Historic Site, located at 4600 Virginia Road in Long Beach. The event is a joint presentation by Friends of Rancho Los Cerritos and Rancho Los Cerritos Historic Site, Department of Parks, Recreation and Marine and the City of Long Beach. Spend an afternoon playing board games, painting or reading at Rancho Los Cerritos and its historic gardens. Admission is free, and no reservations are required. Radiation Therapy Lecture

Long Beach Memorial invites the public to attend “High-Tech, State-of-the-Art Radiation Therapy … Tomorrow’s Treatment Today,” a lecture about the life-saving machines of the future that are here today. Hear about high-tech equipment that eliminates cancer with less side effects.
