We’ve got some big things happening in Signal Hill. First we get a Ross and a Dollar Tree. Then Circle Pet relocates here. Now we have a brand new Fresh & Easy Neighborhood Market set to open its doors Wednesday morning across from Home Depot on Cherry Avenue. Believe me, we will be there ready for the photo op.
I know this may sound like an over-inflated statement, but having this store so close to home is going to “change my life.” Other than Food 4 Less, we’ve never had much grocery shopping available without having to go to the traffic circle area or up to Bixby Knolls. Telling Steve that I’m going shopping “on my way home” has usually meant that I would either have to drive in the opposite direction of “home” or venture far past our residence. Getting a quick gallon of milk, eggs and a box of cereal has been anything but “quick.”
Knowing that Fresh & Easy was coming soon, I have recently been shopping at the location far out on Spring Street near Palos Verdes Avenue in order to get acquainted with the store. I’m hooked. Although Trader Joe’s is my first love for all things gluten free and for specialty items, I know that having Fresh & Easy close by will make our lives “oh, so easy.”
Here’s a bit of the press release Fresh & Easy sent us yesterday morning!
Fresh & Easy Neighborhood Market will open the doors to its store at 2475 Cherry Avenue on Wednesday, Sept. 8, bringing fresh, wholesome food at affordable prices to the neighborhood. Neighbors are invited to attend the store’s five-day grand opening celebration beginning at 10am.Fresh & Easy will present a $1,000 donation to a local non-profit organization as part of the opening. The Signal Hill Fresh & Easy location will employ around 20 people and will continue to recruit from the local neighborhood. The company provides the opportunity for all employees to work at least 20 hours a week, which entitles them to comprehensive healthcare and competitive benefits. Entry-level positions will pay well over the minimum wage, starting at $10 an hour, with a potential quarterly bonus of up to 10 percent.
