A man who was fatally shot in Long Beach was identified today by county authorities.
According to the Los Angeles County Coroner’s office, Oscar Munoz Sanchez, 31, was riding his bicycle on West 15th Street and Pacific Avenue on Friday when he was confronted and shot by an unknown male suspect, according to the Long Beach Police Department. The suspect then allegedly pulled a gun and fired multiple rounds at Sanchez.
Sanchez, who sustained gunshot wounds to his upper and lower body, was taken to a hospital by Long Beach Fire Department paramedics where he was pronounced dead.
The shooting occurred approximately one block away from an earlier shooting that happened around 9:40 p.m. in the area of 14th Street and Cedar Avenue near 14th Street Park, police said.
Detectives say Sanchez’s shooting is being investigated as gang-related.
