Pedestrian injured in hit-and-run dies at hospital

A pedestrian who was struck in a hit-and-run in Long Beach has died, police said today.

David Bermudez, 72, of Long Beach, was injured about 6:20 p.m. Nov. 12 at Artesia Boulevard and Atlantic Avenue, according to the Long Beach Police Department. Bermudez was taken to a hospital, where he died on Friday, according to the LBPD.

“Officers learned the pedestrian was walking southbound across Artesia Boulevard west of Atlantic Avenue, outside of a crosswalk, when he was struck by a vehicle traveling westbound, which fled the scene prior to officers arrival,” according to a police statement.

A witness described the hit-and-run vehicle as a dark-colored Toyota Camry. No description was available of the motorist.
