City vaccine and testing at Houghton Park to relocate indoors due to rain

City COVID-19 vaccine and testing sites will relocate any outdoor operations to indoors due to the forecasted rain on Thursday, Dec. 23 and Friday, Dec. 24, the City announced.

The sites relocating indoors include Houghton Park Community Center and the Main Health Building.

Vaccine and testing clinics at Long Beach City College, Pacific Coast Campus and Veterans Stadium, which are located outdoors, will reopen next week on their regularly scheduled operating days, due to the rain.

The modified vaccine and testing schedule for Dec. 23 and Dec. 24 is as follows:

Houghton Park Community Center

  • COVID-19 Testing Schedule
    • Thursday, Dec. 23, 9:30 a.m. to 1 p.m. and 2:30 to 5 p.m.
    • Friday, Dec. 24, 9:30 a.m. to 1 p.m.
  • COVID-19 Vaccination Schedule
    • Thursday, Dec. 23, 9:30 a.m. to 1 p.m.
    • Friday, Dec. 24, CLOSED due to the holiday

Main Health Building

  • COVID-19 Testing Schedule
    • Thursday, Dec. 23, 9:30 a.m. to 1 p.m. and 2:30 to 5 p.m.
    • Friday, Dec. 24, 9:30 a.m. to 1 p.m.

All vaccine appointments scheduled for Thursday, Dec. 23 at Pacific Coast Campus were moved to Houghton Park Community Center. Persons with vaccine appointments will be notified via email or a phone call, according to a City statement. 

People with testing appointments at Pacific Coast Campus or Veterans Stadium will be contacted via email for rescheduling.

In observance of the holidays, all City vaccine and testing sites will be closed on Saturday, Dec. 25 and Saturday, Jan. 1, 2022.

The Health Department urged everyone to get vaccinated and boosted if eligible, noting that vaccines are safe and effective in preventing COVID-19 cases, as well as preventing hospitalization, serious illness or death among breakthrough cases.

The Health Department also noted that people with any symptoms of illness, or those who have been in close contact with someone who tested positive for COVID-19, should get tested regardless of vaccination status.
