Homeless woman found shot to death in SUV in Long Beach

A woman found shot to death in what police said was an “SUV type vehicle” parked on a street in Long Beach was homeless, authorities said today.

The coroner’s office identified her as 34-year-old Guadalupe Ruiz.

Officers were dispatched a little after 7:20 a.m. Sunday to the 1300 block of West 16th Street to assist the Long Beach Fire Department with a “gunshot victim” call, the Long Beach Police Department reported.

Officers located the woman, suffering from a gunshot wound to the upper body, seated inside the front area of the vehicle, police said.

Paramedics pronounced her dead at the scene.

The motive for the shooting was not immediately known.
