Due to ongoing rains Thursday, Dec. 30, the Long Beach Public Works Department has canceled all scheduled street sweeping for the day.
“Street sweepers are more effective when the street is dry,” the Public Works Department said on its website.
Street sweeping will also not take place tomorrow, Friday, Dec. 31, due to the New Year’s Eve holiday.
The Public Works Department said on its website that it may or may not continue with scheduled street sweeping on rainy days.
For future reference, if residents want to know if street sweeping is canceled due to rain they can call (562) 570-2890.
Although street sweeping is paused, red, white and blue parking curbs will still be enforced.
According to the City website, approximately 160,000 miles of streets are swept in Long Beach each year, removing approximately 11,000 tons of debris.
