Sex Crimes detectives with the Long Beach Police Department have arrested a suspect in a spree of sexual batteries that took place between May 30, 2021 and Sept. 24, 2021 and are urging any additional victims to come forward.

33-year-old Christopher Royal Starr of Long Beach was arrested at his home in the 1600 block of E. 1st Street on Jan. 27, 2022 by members of the Long Beach Police Department’s Warrant Detail. He is currently being held at the Long Beach City Jail on $100,000 bail for three counts of sexual battery.

In California sexual battery is defined as when someone touches another person against their will for sexual gratification or when someone touches an intimate area of a person who has been unlawfully restrained.

In Sept. 2021, LBPD released a statement saying that eight sexual batteries with similar circumstances were reported between May 30, 2021 and Sept. 24, 2021.

Several women reported that someone had appeared to be jogging, and when he was about to pass them instead sexually battered them before fleeing on foot.

In one case, it was reported that the suspect had been riding an electric scooter.

Each of the reported sexual batteries were identified as having occurred in the area from Alamitos Avenue east to Redondo Avenue and Ocean Boulevard north to Anaheim Street.

LBPD detectives are looking for additional victims and urge anyone with information about this case to contact Sex Crimes Detective William Neal at (562) 570-7368.
