CSULB cancels in-person classes, closes campus after campus wide power outage

Update: February 15 at 8:06 p.m. Southern California Edison is currently on scene working to restore power. According to a Beach Alert, power is incrementally being restored throughout the campus. All classes will resume tomorrow morning, the notice stated.

The Cal State Long Beach (CSULB) campus is closed tonight, it was announced via Beach Alert, the university’s emergency notification system, due to a campus-wide power outage.

According to the notice, all in person-classes have been canceled for the night and students are advised to leave campus carefully. All others are advised to stay away from the campus until further notice.

The emergency notice was sent to students at 6:25 p.m., which noted that emergency crews are working to restore power. No details were provided on what caused the power outage.

Residential students will be given further instruction as soon as possible, the Beach Alert notice said.

Updates will be shared with students as they become available, the university emergency notification system noted.
