Long Beach arts organizations and artists seeking funds for special projects or professional development can now apply for grants anytime from the Arts Council for Long Beach.
The Arts Council for Long Beach has announced the availability of project micro-grants and professional development grants— new grants that will be awarded year-round on a monthly basis, or until grant funding is depleted for the fiscal year.
“Historically, the Arts Council for Long Beach has issued grants on an annual basis,” said Craig Watson, executive director of the Arts Council. “These new grants, of smaller award amounts issued throughout the year, help us serve the community in new ways. We aim to spark new opportunities for our community and visitors to enjoy the arts, and to help individuals enhance their professional skills.”
Project micro-grants support Long Beach arts events, festivals, arts-education programs and hands-on demonstrations that are open to the public. Applicants may request up to $1,000 for art projects or arts events that are in the city, open to the public and free to attend. Projects must have matching funds or evidence of an in-kind match.
Professional development grants help individual artists and representatives of arts organizations enhance their professional skills in training seminars, workshops or classes. Grants can cover up to half of training costs.
Applications received by the 15th of the month will be reviewed and decided upon by the end of the following month.
