Cosplayers and fans will soon swarm the Long Beach Convention Center for the return of Long Beach Comic Con on the weekend of Sept. 3 and 4.

“I like how it’s more lowkey than Anime Expo,” cosplayer Christine Harges told the Signal Tribune in 2020. “I like lowkey conventions, so that’s fun.”

This year there will be 17 guests from the comic, video game, cosplay and related industries in the conventions “Social Square,” where fans can chat with their idols and ask for autographs.

Big names attending this year’s convention include Lou Ferrigno, who portrayed the 1978 television version of The Incredible Hulk, and executives from Heavy Metal magazine.

“I’m a big comic fan. [For] those of us here in Social Square, it’s a good place to be,” video game voice actor Carlos Ferro told the Signal Tribune in 2020.

There will also be a variety of vendors selling comics, art prints, stickers, collectibles and more.

The convention was previously planned to take place in Sept. 2021 and Feb. 2022, but both dates were canceled due to high rates of COVID-19 at the time.

Long Beach Comic Con will be held at the Long Beach Convention Center, located at 300 E Ocean Blvd. on Saturday, Sept. 3 from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. and Sunday, Sept. 4 from 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. General admission costs $45 on Saturday and $25 on Sunday. A weekend pass can be purchased for both days for $65. Tickets can be purchased online at longbeachcomiccon.ticketleap.com.
