Long Beach has officially launched the Android version of the “Go Long Beach” Smartphone app. This follows the launch of the iPhone and mobile web versions of the app in October 2010.
The “Go Long Beach” app makes it easy for the community to report common problems such as potholes, graffiti, sidewalk damage, and other service needs.Â
“The ‘Go Long Beach’ app is a quick and easy way for the public to connect with the city at any time of the day or night, and helps us respond to residents’ concerns in an efficient and timely manner,” said Mayor Bob Foster.
Once downloaded onto a Smartphone, the “Go Long Beach” app allows the public to quickly report problems to be fixed, instead of waiting to locate a phone number and make a call, write a detailed e-mail, or even remember to report the problem at all. The application also allows users to upload photos of graffiti, sidewalk damage or potholes, and then uses GPS tracking technology to instantly report the location of the issue. The service categories are graffiti, graffiti in parks, broken drinking fountains in parks, potholes, illegally dumped items, street signs, sidewalk damage, and overgrown weeds on private property. More categories will be added in the future to further address the community’s needs.
Android users can download the “Go Long Beach” app from the Android Market and iPhone users can download the app from the App Store. Blackberry users can access the app at www.golbcity.com.
Since its debut in October 2010, the city of Long Beach iPhone app has had approximately 800 users.
