Where to celebrate Veterans Day in Long Beach

Following four years of fighting between the Allied Nations and Germany, the first World War came to a pause of hostilities on the eleventh hour on the eleventh day of the eleventh month. Millions of soldiers had lost their lives to the “Great War,” and the Treaty of Versailles which marked the end of the fighting was still a year away from being signed.

America celebrated Armistice Day that year and every year that followed with parades, public gatherings and a break from school and work. The national holiday was officially renamed Veterans Day by President Dwight D. Eisenhower on June 1, 1954.

Long Beach has a longstanding history of honoring its veterans. Although the annual Veterans Day Parade stopped being hosted in 2020, there are still multiple ways to honor those who have served our country in Long Beach.
