Long Beach is encouraging residents to shop in their communities during this year’s Small Business Saturday on Nov. 26.

Small Business Saturday is an annual event that was created in 2010 to persuade consumers to do their holiday shopping at local businesses, which helps to reinvest in communities, increase local competition and reduce environmental impact.

Now through Saturday, Nov. 26, the City will be highlighting local businesses and the benefits of shopping locally on the Department of Economic Development’s social media accounts (@lbecondev) as well as the City’s primary social media (@longbeachcity).

Over $440,000 from the Long Beach Recovery Act has been allocated to fund business activation, which includes the launch of the Small Business Saturday social media campaign.

Additionally, on Small Business Saturday there will be free metered parking offered at the following locations:

  • Downtown Long Beach: Street parking south of 10th Street, including the Pike Outlets.
  • Belmont Shore: Street parking and the five public parking lots.

For the free metered parking, the two-hour time limit will remain in effect. The City Place garages located downtown will continue to remain free for the first two hours with no validation required.

Residents can learn more about Small Business Saturday in Long Beach by visiting  longbeach.gov/SmallBizSaturday and they can join in the conversation by using the hashtag #ShopSmallLB on Facebook, Twitter or Instagram.
