Police ID man killed by hit-and-run vehicle in Long Beach

Authorities Monday identified a man who was struck and killed by a hit-and-run vehicle in Long Beach.

The vehicle was eastbound on Second Street about 1 a.m. Sunday when it hit the man, who was crossing outside a marked crosswalk near Marina Drive, according to the Long Beach Police Department.

Hiram Argust Jr., 44, of Long Beach died at the scene, the Los Angeles County coroner’s office reported.

The vehicle left the scene prior to officers’ arrival, and no description was available. Anyone with information on the case was urged to call police at 562-570-7355 or Crime Stoppers at 800-222-TIPS.
