Roxanne’s held their sixth Whiskey Wonderland event on Sunday, to the delight of the hundreds of patrons who braved the afternoon rainfall to sample dozens of different whiskeys and enjoy the company of other whiskey fanatics.
Between the tastings, for those still sober enough to learn, the event also had three classes taught by local whiskey experts.
The first was a class on how to make fat-washed whiskey with the Exhibition Room’s own Devon Butler, followed by a lesson on making a proper Old Fashioned by cocktail enthusiast JP.A demonstration of making a whiskey punch with Women Who Whiskey LBC’s president Stacey Smith-Clark taught attendees the simple, yet satisfying recipe.
After getting slightly sauced, attendees stopped by the booth of Shady Grove Foods for a taste of their custom-made Jackrabbit Whiskey-smothered pork ribs and bacon. The grease from Shady Grove Foods was used to make the fat-washed whiskey.
Umbrellas came out as the rain started to come down, but there was still music to play and fine spirits to sip as the Suitcase Stompers played a jazzy tune.
