Construction and landscaping are underway on a small passive park in the 6th District that will be part of a bicycle pathway that leads south toward Orange Avenue. A name for the park, 2300 Martin Luther King Ave., has yet to be determined, but City of Long Beach Park Development Officer Anna Mendiola said the City will discuss an approximate date of unveiling at the beginning of March. “It’s a small mini park that can ideally serve for picnics for families,” Mendiola said. The park will include picnic tables, a rock path, drinking fountains and other landscaping features for the community. “This mini park would be a great spot for riders to maybe take a small break or enjoy lunch,” said Long Beach resident and occasional cyclist Raquel Weber.
