The reason two individuals attempted to violently kidnap a baby in August 2022 remains a mystery, after the Los Angeles County District Attorney’s Office declined to comment on a suspected motive when asked by the Signal Tribune on June 12.
Two women were walking a baby in a stroller along a Long Beach street in August 2022 when Stacie Wilson allegedly approached them, pointed an apparent firearm at them and demanded the baby.
The three women reportedly began to struggle over the baby stroller, when the second suspect, Walter Sullivan, allegedly pulled up in a vehicle and fired what appeared to be a firearm. Wilson then reportedly released the stroller and got into the vehicle. The suspects then fled before police arrived at the scene.
The baby and the two adult victims were uninjured.
Wilson and Sullivan were later located inside a vehicle and arrested in Los Angeles. Two replica firearms were allegedly found within the vehicle as well.
Neither suspect has been sentenced to any prison time as of yet. In February, Sullivan was sentenced to 16 months in the county jail. Wilson’s case is ongoing, and she is attempting to be sentenced to a mental health diversion program rather than incarceration. She was last in court on June 14 at the Governor George Deukmejian Courthouse, and is due back in court next month.
