GoFundMe for funeral of teen killed in freeway crash raises over $23,000

A GoFundMe campaign has raised over $23,000 for the funeral of a 15-year-old killed in a vehicular accident on the 710 Freeway in Long Beach on June 26.

15-year-old George Dobbs was one of five people killed in the single-vehicle crash early on Monday morning, alongside 15-year-old Ariahh Slemaker, 18-year-old Angel Gabriel Sextos, 18-year-old Eduardo Cruz, and Sebastian Peredia (believed to be between 15-20 years old).

According to the County of Los Angeles Medical Examiner, all five of the victims died due to blunt force injuries. 

There is one survivor of the crash, who is hospitalized with major injuries.

Dash cam footage shared with ABC7 shows the Hyundai Sonata the victims were in driving along the 710 at a high rate of speed, before crashing into a barrier close to the 91 Freeway interchange.

According to Annual United States Road Crash Statistics (ASIRT), on average over 46,000 people die due to vehicle accidents annually in the U.S.
