On Tuesday, Nov. 7, tens of California cities will hold elections for various measures and board seats for city council, school districts and more. Long Beach is not one of those cities.

Regardless, Long Beach will still treat Nov. 7 as a city-wide holiday which means libraries, services and most city-run offices will be closed to residents. The first Tuesday of each November is a holiday whether an election takes place or not, according to the City Municipal Codes.

Trash and recycling services will follow their regular schedules, but street sweeping will not occur on Tuesday. Parking violations will be enforced, and residents should check parking meters for an “Exempt on Holidays” message; otherwise regular parking rules will be displayed on the meter.

The Towing Operations and Vehicle Storage Facility (3111 E. Willow St., between Temple Ave. and Redondo Ave.) will be closed, but vehicles can be released outside of operation hours for an additional fee. More information can be found on the City website
