Essay contest recognizes caregivers for service

The stress of providing care for senior loved ones can be overwhelming for some families. Readers of Caring Today magazine are being asked to share their feelings and experiences on the subject of caregiving for the elderly by entering the Give a Caregiver a Break essay contest. Home Instead Senior Care in Long Beach is sponsoring the contest in an effort to honor family caregivers for their tireless service.
In 500 words or less, family caregivers can explain the challenges they’ve faced, how they’ve embraced their role as a caregiver for a senior loved one and how a Home Instead Senior Care caregiver could make a difference in their lives. Entries will be accepted Thursday, May 1, through Monday, July 16.
The grand prize is $5,000 worth of care from Home Instead Senior Care. Two first-prize winners will receive $2,500 worth of care.
Winning essays will be published in the November/ December issue of Caring Today and the top 10 essays will appear on www.caring today.com. Visit the Web site to read past winner’s stories and contest rules.
