A can-do attitude

The fourth annual CANstruction® Long Beach competition benefiting Food Finders took place in the Landmark Square Building lobby on Sept. 21 beginning at 8am. Teams made up of local architecture and engineering firms designed and built unique structures made entirely out of canned goods. The structures are allowed to be built up to 10 feet by 10 feet by 10 feet with cans. The teams had 12 hours to build their structures. The total amount of cans weighs over 25,000 pounds, according to Terri Henry of Terri Henry Marketing. Pictured above is Nick Mooney with Brascia Builders, who teamed with WHA Architects. After being on display for 10 days through Oct. 1, all cans will be donated to Food Finders for distribution to agencies servicing those who are food-insecure. More information is available at CanstructionLongBeach.org.
