About a dozen Duffy electric boats were destroyed Monday morning at a dock in the Alamitos Bay of Long Beach.

The fire was reported at 1:15 a.m. at the dock in the 100 block of Marina Drive, Long Beach Fire Department Capt. Jack Crabtree told City News Service.

Four or five burned boats sunk, Crabtree said. The exact number of burned boats will be determined when investigators can determine the number that were under water.

Video from the scene showed firefighters separating some small, smoking boats away from boats that did not burn.

No buildings in the marina burned and no one was injured, Crabtree said.

Firefighters placed booms around the fire zone to contain debris and the affected dock was closed for the clean-up and investigation, he said.

A news videographer at the scene said the boats belong to London Boat Rentals.
