POWER 4 Youth, an academic mentoring program for middle-school students, will offer a no-obligation information meeting for prospective volunteers on Thursday, Sept. 8 at 6:30pm at 607 E. 3rd St., one of the four community sites where the program operates.
POWER 4 Youth is looking for adults who can meet one-on-one with youth weekly at the supervised locations to assist with academic help while building a trusting mentor relationship with a young person. Training is provided at no cost; the program is free and open to all adults and students.
“I am really enthused as we begin another school year. Our goal is to help youth to achieve the best they are capable of through the help of a one-on-one mentor,” said Val Parker, executive director. “Youth are looking for this support. We hope this school year to match 50-percent more youth with mentors, so the need for volunteers is greater than ever before.”
