More Info Join the CHCS team as they clean up alleys and free them from weeds and trash, as per Municipal Code regulations that require clean alleys. After the 36th Street alley, participants will move onto the alleys from Wardlow Road to Bixby Avenue. Light snacks, bags and gloves will be provided. More Info After Justin Rudd’s monthly “30-Minute Beach Cleanup,” the nonprofit CAT will host a sing-off competition. Entrants will sing the national anthem a capella before judges and a 150-plus crowd; winners will receive a contract totaling $1,000 to sing for 10 upcoming Long Beach events, including the 4th of July Kids Bike Parade, the Haute Dog Howl’oween Parade, the Miss Long Beach pageant and the Long Beach Turkey Trot. More Info Buses will depart from the Signal Youth Center for the El Capitan Theatre so families may view a screening of Brave. Participants will have time for lunch upon arrival. A stage show featuring Pixar and Disney characters will precede the film. Register at the Center or the Community Services Department at City Hall. All ages are welcome, tickets are required for children 2 or older, and all minors must be accompanied by a paying legal guardian or parent.
