A brick inscription can commemorate a birthday, graduation, or other momentous event. The price is $50 for one line, $75 for two lines, and $100 for three lines.

Wrigley River Run 5K/10K and Tadpole Trot on Saturday, June 6, offering a flat, fast course through Wrigley Village and on the L.A. River bike path. Registration opens at 6am. The Banning Museum will host screenings of the Port of Los Angeles Documentary Series on Saturday, June 6, from noon to 4pm at Banning Museum, 401 East M Street, in Wilmington. As part of the Banning Heritage Day celebration, the Port of Los Angeles will screen their four-part documentary on the history of Port of Los Angeles. HISTORICAL OPEN HOUSE
Long Beach Heritage will celebrate “A Century of Style” with its annual Great Homes of Long Beach tour Sunday, June 7. From noon to 5pm, ticket holders will be welcomed inside six architecturally distinguished homes in the Belmont Heights, Bixby Knolls, Los Cerritos and Willmore City neighborhoods of the city. At each home, Long Beach Heritage docents will greet visitors and highlight the various interior and exterior features and any known history about the home. Fifth District Councilmember Gerrie Schipske will host a meeting for the community on Wednesday, June 10 at DeMille Middle School, 7025 E. Parkcrest St., to discuss the status of Long Beach Unified School District’s plans to convert the middle school into a vocational high school. Schipske has invited Superintendent of Schools Chris Steinhauser and the City’s Traffic Engineer David Roseman to attend to answer questions. The meeting will be held in the auditorium and begin at 6pm.
MIX ‘N’ MINGLE
The Signal Hill Chamber of Commerce will have its last mixer of spring at 5:30pm on Wednesday, June 10 at Corrigan’s Sports Bar & Patio in the Long Beach Airport Marriott Hotel. As always, the evening is open to members, guests and friends of the Chamber, and there is no charge to attend. The hotel is located at 4700 Airport Plaza Drive at Spring St., just east of Lakewood Boulevard. Corrigan’s is located at the east end of the hotel on the lobby level. Corrigan’s will be offering its happy hour drink specials along with complimentary appetizers. Participants should bring plenty of business cards and company materials to hand out.

On Thursday, June 11, Fourth District Councilmember Patrick O’Donnell will host an evening workshop for local residents to learn about water conservation and landscaping. The lecture, presented by the Long Beach Water Department, will take place at Minnie Gant Elementary’s auditorium, 1854 N Britton Dr. Landscape expert Gene Ratcliffe from Tree of Life, one of Southern California’s premiere nurseries, will be leading the lecture, offering information and tips on creating water-conserving gardens and landscapes.
