The Wrigley Association and Grace Lutheran Preschool are sponsoring Parents’ Night Out on Friday, June 19. Parents can go out from 6pm to 10pm knowing their kids (aged 3 to 10) are in the licensed, safe environment at Grace Lutheran Preschool, 245 W. Wardlow Rd. Saluting those who are not early birds, the Bixby Knolls Strollers will take their second annual Summer Solstice Stroll on Saturday, June 20, meeting at 6pm at Rancho Los Cerritos, with the walk starting at 6:30pm. Friends of the Rancho will be providing summer treats for everyone after the stroll on the lawn. Enjoy ice cream, watermelon, cookies, and tasty drinks to kick-off summer. Free tours of the Rancho property also available. The stroll is free and open to everyone. The more, the merrier. Sorry, no dogs allowed for this one. The Strollers will also be taking their usual walk that morning. The walking group meets every Saturday at It’s A Grind Coffee House, 4245 Atlantic, and start the walks at 7:30am. Free coffee provided.

Long Beach Japanese Cultural Center Summer Carnival and Japanese Cultural Festival will take place Saturday, June 27 and Sunday, June 28 at the Center, located at 1766 Seabright Ave., (two blocks west of Santa Fe Avenue and just south of PCH). Festival hours are 3pm to 9pm on Saturday and 1pm to 7:30pm on Sunday. Admission is free and the public is welcome. Off-street parking available in a lot south of the Center. View a special exhibit featuring the untold story of the Manzanar fishermen— “From Barbed Wire to Barbed Hooks.” Live performances include taiko drumming, ondo dancing, and judo and kendo martial arts demonstrations.
