More Info The public is encouraged to attend to provide feedback on a proposal to further reduce lead emissions from large lead-acid battery recycling facilities. If adopted, the amendment to the agency’s existing Rule 1420.1—Emission Standards for Lead and other Toxic Air Contaminants from Large Lead-Acid Battery Recycling Facilities— would further reduce lead exposure in communities near the region’s two lead battery recycling facilities — Exide Technologies in Vernon and Quemetco in Puente Hills. SCAQMD staff will also present a proposed work plan for implementing recently revised state air toxics risk assessment guidelines.
