Nonprofit organization Save Our Beach will have a Halloween-themed beach clean-up on Saturday, Oct. 24 from 10am to 2pm. Kids are encouraged to wear costumes, and there will be a large blow-up pumpkin for picture-taking. Bring lightly used costumes to donate to the Boys & Girls Club. Garbage bags, protective gloves, free parking and community service certificates provided. Free candy and meal from Ruby’s Seal Beach for all kids under 13. A SIGN OF CONTROVERSY
The public is invited to attend, learn more and voice their opinions about Cabe Bros. Toyota’s appeal of the rejection of its request to erect a large electronic sign at the intersection of Wardlow Road and Long Beach Boulevard. The project was rejected by both the Planning Commission and the City Council to prevent the negative impact to sight-lines and excessive light on area homes and businesses. Cabe Bros. reps will explain the project and how they intend to minimize the impact to surrounding homes and businesses. The meeting will be at Hughes Middle School auditorium, 3846 California Ave., on Wednesday, Nov. 4 at 6:30pm.
