More Info A new photographic exhibition entitled “Black Gold: Oil in the Neighborhood” will be presented. The exhibit, sponsored by the Port of Long Beach and Mitchell Land Company, will explore an industry that helped shape the Long Beach area. The discovery of oil on Signal Hill in 1921 attracted workers from all over the country to work in the fields. A wine-and-cheese reception will be held, with wines from Willmore Bar for $20 to celebrate the opening. RSVPs are requested, but tickets are available at the door.
