Education Panel Discussion
The League of Women Voters is having a meeting regarding the educational system in Long Beach a on Saturday, Sept. 15 from 10 a.m. to noon at the Los Altos Library, located at 5614 Britton Street in Long Beach. Long Beach Unified School District Superintendent Chris Steinhauser and Assemblywoman Betty Karnette will discuss the direction of schools and education in Long Beach. LBPD Open House
Members from Long Beach Search and Rescue are having an open house Saturday, Sept. 15 starting at 11 a.m. The unit will celebrate its 45th anniversary with special presentations and awards, an audio-visual presentation of the unit’s history activities, a rescue demonstration, a display of their emergency equipment and a tour of the Search and Rescue facilities. Discovery Well Park Family Festival
The City of Signal Hill’s Community Services Department invites the public to participate in the annual Discovery Well Park Family Festival on Saturday, Sept. 15 from 1 to 4 p.m. The theme is “safari party,” and the festival will include a safari hunt, games, contests, arts & crafts, a jumper, face painting, reptile display, photos with wild animals, and live musical entertainment. NAACP Membership Meeting
The NAACP Long Beach branch is having a general membership meeting program entitled “A Celebration of the Gospel” Sunday, Sept. 16 from 3:30 p.m. to 4:30 p.m. at the California Recreation Center located at 1550 Martin Luther King Jr. Avenue in Long Beach. Some featured guests for the meeting are the Greater Open Door COGIC Choir of Long Beach and Soloist Minister Dean. Coffee Community Meeting
Residents of East Long Beach are invited to join the Long Beach Police Department’s East Division Command Staff for a coffee community meeting Wednesday, Sept. 19 at 3 p.m. During the meeting, residents will have the opportunity to meet East Division police officers, who will address the questions and concerns of the community. There will also be a presentation on traffic issues and nuisance abatement by staff members. The meeting will take place at 2300 East 4th Street in Long Beach. Knee and Hip Replacement Lecture
The Community Hospital of Long Beach is having a health lecture of total knee and hip replacement Wednesday, Sept. 19 from 6:30 p.m. to 8 p.m. at the Community Hospital of Long Beach Auditorium, located on 1720 Termino Avenue in Long Beach. Come learn about the indications for replacement, the procedure, post-operative care and potential complications. Community Crime Prevention Meeting
Residents are invited to a community crime prevention meeting on the United States Postal Inspection Wednesday, Sept. 19 at 7 p.m. at 1800 East Wardlow Road in Long Beach. The event is to inform residents on what they can do to protect their mail from thieves.
