Fifteen Long Beach visual artists will open their studios to the public during the 8th Biennial Mid-City Studio Tour on Saturday, June 3 and Sunday, June 4 from 11am to 4pm.
The tour is free and made possible through a microgrant from the Arts Council for Long Beach.
Artworks include paintings, mixed-media constructions, handmade artist books, prints, assemblage, silk painting and sculpture.
Begun in 2003, the tour was created to allow local artists who have shown nationally and internationally to promote their work while allowing the public to see new art, speak with artists and view artists’ work spaces.
Participating artists include Kristine Baker, Caryn Baumgartner, Slater Barron, Dorte Christjansen, Cynthia Evans, Moira Hahn, Bob Potier, Dawn Quinones, Carol Roemer, Joan Skogsberg Sanders, Annie Stromquist, Craig Cree Stone, Alice Foss Thorne, Gail Werner and Jaye Whitworth.
The public can view images and artists’ bios and download a tour map for the event at midcitystudiotour.com. Locations of special activities for children, entertainment and a small works group show at Chez Shaw Gallery are also listed on the website.
