Austin appointed to Metro's Gateway Cities Service Council

Eighth District Long Beach Councilmember Al Austin was sworn in last week as a member of the Gateway Cities Service Council for the Los Angeles County Metropolitan Transportation Authority (Metro). The Service Council advises Metro on the planning and implementation of bus and rail service within the area, reviews proposed service changes and makes policy recommendations to the Metro board.

The Gateway Cities Service Council covers 27 cities, including Long Beach and the unincorporated areas of Southeast Los Angeles County. It is composed of four elected officials and five non-elected officials who are nominated by the Gateway Cities Council of Governments and appointed by Metro’s board of directors.
“I’m so honored to be representing the Gateway cities and thousands of public transportation users in the region,” Austin said.
The Gateway Cities Service Council meets on the second Thursday of each month at the Salt Lake Park Community Center in Huntington Park, 3401 E Florence Ave.
