Authors of all ages welcome in our Scary Story Contest

In celebration of the spooky season, the Signal Tribune invites readers to submit their best scary story for a chance to be part of our upcoming Halloween issue.

Whether you’re a budding writer or a seasoned storyteller, this is your chance to share your spine-chilling tale. Stories must be family-friendly, with no derogatory language or images, and can be up to 800 words. Participants are encouraged to include an original image to accompany their story, but if needed, the Signal Tribune will select one for you.

There are two categories: Youth (16 and under) and Adults. One winner from each category will be chosen and their stories will be posted online, on our social media channels, and in our Halloween issue. Please include your name, age and contact information with submissions. Please do not submit more than two stories.

Submit your original spooky stories to newspaper@signaltribune.com with the subject line “SPOOKY STORIES” by Wednesday, Oct. 4 at 11:59 p.m. for a chance to be included in our second annual spooky issue.
