The Banning Residence Museum is seeking new volunteers for a variety of programming opportunities and will host two “Get to Know Us” receptions for those who are interested. The receptions will take place at 11 a.m. on Friday, Jan. 11 and Saturday, Jan. 12 in the museum’s conference room, located at 401 East M Street in Wilmington.
Volunteers are required to attend a training class to gain the background necessary to offer public tours and special group tours of the interior of the museum, stagecoach barn and grounds.
Once the training class is completed, volunteers can participate in a full range of museum programs such as conservation and maintenance of antiques, decorative arts exhibitions, special events, museum shop assistance, lecture and discussion committees, the living history program and its school program. The museum’s school program introduces fourth-grade students to local cultural and historical heritage and may require additional training to familiarize new volunteers to the program details.
Reservations are required for the “Get to Know Us” receptions. To RSVP, contact the Banning Residence Museum at (310) 548-7777.
