The Belmont Plaza Pool, one of three public Long Beach pools, will be closed for construction from mid-November until January 2023. The pool will receive concrete repairs, patching and sealing as well as repairs to the structural metal flutes located underneath the pool deck.
Repairs to the walking surface surrounding the pool began in October, and the pool has been able to remain open during that time.
These are the first set of repairs to the 50 x 20-meter pool, according to a statement from the City posted outside near the pool deck. During repairs, the smaller 22-yard pool will be open to the public with limited programming.
Residents are encouraged to use one of the other pools in the city including the King Park Pool at Martin Luther King Jr. Park and the Silverado Park Pool at Silverado Park.
King Park Pool is open for recreational swimming Tuesdays and Thursdays from 2:30 to 4 p.m. and from 6:30 to 7:45, Fridays from 2:30 to 3:45 p.m. and Saturdays and Sundays from 1 to 3:15 p.m.
Silverado Park Pool is open for recreational swimming Saturdays from 1 to 3:15 p.m. King Park Pool and Silverado Park Pool both have their own programs including swimming lessons, workout classes, lap swims, a swim team and a diving team.
A previous version of this article stated that the Belmont Plaza Pool would be used in the 2028 Olympics. The complex used for water polo events in the 2028 Olympics will be located in the Elephant Lot of the Long Beach Convention Center.
