A 41-year-old man was charged on Jan. 23 with robbing three convenience stores in Long Beach, Glendale and Carson, armed with a blowtorch and a Taser, the Los Angeles County District Attorney’s (LADA) Office announced.
Jermeile Hairston faces three counts each of second-degree robbery and criminal threats and one count of possession of flammable material.
The LADA also alleges that Hairston was previously convicted in 1994 of aggravated robbery in Hamilton, Ohio.
An arraignment was conducted on Jan. 23 in Department 1 of the Los Angeles County Superior Court, Glendale Branch.
During the robberies that allegedly took place on Jan. 17 and 18, Hairston threatened to kill the store employees, the prosecutor said.
The Glendale Police Department, the Long Beach Police Department and the Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department, Carson Station investigated the case.
