Signal Hill Planning Commission Chair Jane Fallon presented the 1st Quarter Beautification Award to co-owners Brad Willingham and Ron Charron, on behalf of the Buick/GMC Boulevard Automotive Group, at the April 10 Planning Commission meeting. Buick/GMC Auto Group is located at 2800 Cherry Ave. in Signal Hill.
The dealership was recognized for its recent significant upgrades to the exterior of the business. Major components of the improvements include the new corporate entry portal on the Cherry Avenue elevation, updated façade elements such as the silver panels, new building colors and corporate signs. The renovations complement the existing architectural design of the building while presenting a newer corporate image and franchise identification for Buick/GMC.
“Signal Hill is excited that the Buick-GMC dealership has expanded and remodeled their beautiful building,” Fallon said. “Congratulations on the Beautification Award.”
Owners Jim Willingham, Brad Willingham and Ron Charron, along with their employees, were also recognized last year by GM president Mark Reuss for their decades of service, sales and outreach in the region.
Jim Willingham has served as head of the National Automobile Dealership Association and was once honored as America’s most reliable auto dealer by Time magazine. The owners estimate they have sold more than 80,000 Buicks and GMC trucks since opening along American Avenue, now Long Beach Boulevard, during the heyday of American autos, when Chevys and Fords ruled the road.
“It’s been an amazing run and quite an achievement given the various challenges of the auto industry, and we hope to be here another 50 years,” said Brad Willingham.
