The City of Signal Hill is asking residents to use its free disposal programs instead of putting unwanted items at the curb. According to City Manager Charlie Honeycutt, the City is receiving an increased number of complaints because residents are placing unwanted furniture and other items at the curb or in alleyways.
“This is a growing trend, and neighbors are concerned that it makes their neighborhood look bad,” Honeycutt said.
The City of Signal Hill offers a free bulky-item pick-up program for those wanting to get rid of items that are too big to fit into the trash can, such as furniture, appliances and mattresses. Tenants moving out of apartments can use the program too.
Residents can call EDCO at (562) 597-0608 to request a pick-up. They can also drop off unwanted computers, TVs and other electronics at the EDCO Disposal and Recycling Center located at 2755 California Ave. The center is open Tuesday through Saturday from 8am to 4pm, and the service is free.
More information is available at edcodisposal.com or by calling the Signal Hill Public Works Department at (562) 989-7351.
