The Downtown Long Beach Lions Club and the Port of Long Beach will host a “Sight First” Health Fair on Saturday, May 2 at the Martin Luther King Jr. Park Community Center, 1950 Lemon Ave. The event, which will take place from 8am to 4pm, will provide free eye exams and glasses to the first 400 people.
From 10am to 2pm, the fair, in conjunction with the Long Beach Health Department, will offer free hearing, glucose, cholesterol, dental, HIV, hepatitis C, blood pressure and body-mass index screenings. There will also be educational tables on many health issues along with safety and injury prevention, bone-marrow registration, family reading pods and gardening presentations. In addition, the fair will have activities for the entire family and music by DJ Hawkeye.
The event partners are California Lions Friends in Sight, 6th District Councilmember Dee Andrews, Long Beach Department of Health and Human Services, West Coast University, Blind Veteran’s Association, Children’s Dental Health Clinic, For the Child, Leef, Long Beach City College, Long Beach Memorial Blood Drive Center, Long Beach VA Blind Rehabilitation Center, Miller Children’s Hospital, Salvation Army and Seal Beach Lions Club.
