Nancy Myers, owner of The Lock Shop in downtown Long Beach, will serve as the new chair of the Community Hospital of Long Beach (CHLB) board of directors, for Fiscal Year 2009-2010. Joining Myers on the executive committee are: Vice Chair Craig Dougherty; Treasurer Norm Rasmussen; Secretary Dr. Shirley Naret; Immediate Past Chair Dennis C. Smith; Chief of Staff Julie Ann Sherman, D.O.; Auxiliary President Allene Tumelty; Chair of CHLB Foundation Board Darrell Wilson; Past Chief of Staff Dennis Parmer, M.D; Director at Large Don Temple; and CHLB President and CEO Ray Jankowski.
Honorary Emeritus board members are: Felix Heflin, retired hospital administrator; Paul Lee, MD; and Richard Wigod, MD.
Myers worked briefly in the banking industry and then joined the family business The Lock Shop, purchasing it from her father Art Danis in 1992.
Myers’s community involvement includes Downtown Long Beach Associates (DLBA), the Long Beach Area Chamber of Commerce and Executive Associates of Long Beach, serving on numerous committees and in a variety of leadership capacities.
Myers joined the Community Hospital Board of Directors in 2001 and has served on the nominating and bylaws committees and, most recently, as vice chair of the board.
Myers brings a strong business background to CHLB during challenging times when healthcare professionals are dealing with a difficult economy while continuing to advocate quality care to the community. “I look forward to working with all of the Board members and administration at CHLB,” said Myers. “Our combined commitment is to meet the expectations of our stakeholders.”
