The nonprofit Long Beach Community Improvement League (LBCIL) has undergone “significant expansion” of its state-subsidized services, effective July 2015, according to its executive director, Dr. Farah Naz Khaleghi.
The community-based social-service organization, which has served Long Beach and Signal Hill for over 50 years, provides child care and development, state preschool, before-/after-school programs for children ages 2 to 12 years old, and participation in the Child and Adult Care Food Program (CACFP) that is available
without charge.
The two LBCIL Centers are located at 2222 Olive Ave. and 2399 California Ave.
Children of eligible families will receive subsidized services and three daily meals free of charge. The program operates 6:30am to 6pm Monday through Friday year-round. Services are available on a part-time or full-time basis, according to families’ need and working schedule.
