Residents and local businesses gathered at Calbrisas Park to join the Signal Hill Police Department in National Night Out last Tuesday. The event, sponsored by Target, had California Avenue closed off so guests could enjoy the live music and barbeque and get a close-up view of the police department’s Mobile Command Vehicle.
While the event prompted residents to get involved with booths of organizations such as the Girl Scouts and the Chamber of Commerce, attendees eagerly awaited to “Dunk the Chief,” where Operations Division Captain Ron Mark sat inside a blue dunk tank in front of the small crowd of fire fighters, police officers and guests.
Around the dunk tank was a fire truck, face painting, and a bounce house and balloon artist for kids.
