The Conservation Corps of Long Beach (CCLB) is hosting its 16th Annual Dine on Pine event on Monday, July 21. All of the proceeds from the benefit go directly to scholarships and education programs.
“It’s the major fundraiser for the Conservation Corps,” said Larry Forester, board of directors chair. “It enables many of our graduates to go onto trade school or wherever they want to go to get an education.”
A champagne reception begins at 5:15 p.m. on Smooth’s rooftop terrace. Dinner will be served at 6 p.m. at King’s Fish House, L’Opera Ristorante and Smooth’s Sports Grille. Dessert and coffee will be served at 8:15 p.m. on Smooth’s terrace.
Established in 1987, CCLB is a nonprofit organization currently offering two major programs that focus on youth development.
The youth program caters to students in kindergarten through 12th grade. CCLB partners with Long Beach Unified School District to operate five after-school program sites, serving more than 1,200 students a day for three hours with emphasis on enriched learning, homework assistance and recreation.
The young adult program focuses on adults age 18-25, emphasizing: education and the achievement of a high-school diploma; job readiness and training; and a corps-to-career program that follows up on and assists graduates for two years after graduation.
