Sixth District Councilman Dee Andrews and the youth of the district will host a Sixth District Youth Forum on Saturday, February 21, from noon to 1pm at the Samuel S. McBride, Sr. Park, Social Hall, 1550 Martin Luther King Jr. Ave. The forum topic is the proposed skate park at McBride Park.
In an effort to involve the younger constituents in the 6th District, Andrews has put forth a quarterly youth forum. The forum will focus on issues that are important to youth and allow them to express their concerns about things that are happening in the 6th District.
“Sometimes our youth are discredited and/or left out of important decisions that greatly affect them,” said Andrews. “With the assistance of the 6th District youth, I am hopeful that we may get many of their concerns to the forefront. Not only will we, as a community, gain a new perspective, we will also involve and empower the younger members of our neighborhoods.”
The first community meeting discussion will be about a proposed skate park at McBride Park. “With the city budget eliminating the mobile skate park program and other youth activities, the kids in the 6th District deserve the alternatives to the streets that skate parks provide,” Andrews said. “The parks provide a sage and legal place for the kids to enjoy their sport. “
Free parking is available. For more information call (562) 570-6816.
